“K-NARF [ n.p.:kay-när/ff Frank reversed ]
K-NARF can be described as a photograph maker rather than just a photographer. He re-invents photography with simple tools and materials and intentionally keeps a playful and amateur aspect in the process of making. Since his first exhibition in Tokyo in 2001, he applies the principles of “BRICOLAGE” to photography, a contemporary Art movement directly affiliated to the “READY MADE”, the “ARTE POVERA” and the “D.I.Y.”.
K-NARF is a French Australian artist born in 1970. After working as an independent architect in France he became full time artist when he moved to Australia in the late 90’s. He had his first exhibition in Tokyo in 2001 with IDÉE/SPUTNIK. His work has been included in many exhibitions in France, Japan, USA, Italy, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Art projects include a solo show at the Arles photo festival, a carte blanche at ISSEY MIYAKE in Paris, a fourteen year support from the Yves Klein Archives, to be one of the first members of the prestigious HP INFLUENCERS program, a special installation in the Museum of Sydney, several collaborations with the JAPAN FOUNDATION FOR THE ART, three monographs books and more recently the creation of a imaginary photographic lab in a Hong-Kong tram with the support of PIERRE HERMÉ.
K-NARF moved back to Tokyo early 2014 and after a three months artist residency he created his own atelier. He works with galleries in NYC, Paris, Milan and Tokyo.
