Katsuya Soda, refugee activist, founder of Kyoto community FM radio program on refugees, “Nanmin Now!”, and part-time teacher at Ryukoku University hosts a talk with special guests including, a refugee living in Japan. In this talk they discuss the meaning of the word “refugee” and the impact of the term itself through his/her first-hand experience.

Katsuya Soda
Born in Kyoto, 1966. He got a Ph.D. from Graduate School of Policy and Management, Doshisha University. Since 2004, he has been hosting a radio program on refugee “NANMIN NOW!”. He is one of the members of Japan Forum for UNHCR and NGOs (J-FUN) and also teaches at Ryukoku University and Kobe Shinwa Women’s University. He used be a comedian at Yoshimoto Creative Agency for 5 years.
